LAREDO, Texas - Texas A&M International (2-2-1, 1-1 HC) bounced back from Thursday's loss with a 6-1 victory over Dallas Baptist (2-3-1, 0-2 HC) on Saturday.
In a what turned into a wet day, TAMIU did their own raining with five goals scored by four different Dustdevils.
Diego Meda got TAMIU on the board early as he buried shot from Billy Sanchez for the match's first goal in the fifth minute. The Dustdevils went up 2-0 in the 18th minute as DBU's Dylan Behr missed played a ball and knocked in an own goal.
In the 25th minute, Rafael Montabes found his way onto the scoresheet for the first time in the match as he knocked in a shot off his own rebound from a save by DBU's Jeremy Hall. The Dustdevils took a 3-0 lead into the half.
TAMIU kept the offensive pressure on in the second half, as Montabes scored his second goal in the 63rd minute off a corner kick from Johan Portales. Elias Perales pushed the lead to 6-0 in the 72nd minute on a pass from Charlie Michel.
DBU finally got on the board late in the 82nd minute as David Velazquez knocked in a free kick, but the comeback would be too little too late as the Dustdevils took the 6-1 win.
TAMIU continues Heartland Conference play on the road as they travel to Edmond, Okla. on Thursday, Sept. 20 to face off against conference foe Oklahoma Christian.
