TAMIU Shutout In Conference Opener
DALLAS - Texas A&M International (1-2) fell to Dallas Baptist (1-2-1) 4-0 in the Heartland Conference opener on Thursday.
"Today, we had a very difficult time defending," said Head Coach Felipe Arias. "Regardless of our goalkeeper Aubrey Hall's solid performance, we still left too much space defensively for the DBU forwards. That is something that we'll definitely need to correct before Saturday's game against St. Edward's."Â
The Patriots' defense gave the Dustdevils fits as TAMIU only took five shots all match with only two on goal, compared to 18 shots with eight on goal.
DBU got on the board early as Kaci Parks found the back of the net on a rebound of a saved shot. They added the second goal from Alondra Olmos with an assist from Melanie Castelan.
The Patriots pushed out to 3-0 just 45 seconds into the second half as Kaci Parks scored her second goal of the night on a pass from Katelyn Havard. DBU scored its final goal of the match in the 74th minute as Ericca Everson knocked in a shot from Brittany Eccles.
The Dustdevils continue their road trip on Saturday, Sept. 15 in Austin, Texas against Heartland foe St. Edward's.
