LAREDO, Texas - Texas A&M International (2-14, 0-2 HC) fell in straight sets (16-25, 11-25, 13-25) to Lubbock Christian (11-6, 2-0 HC) on Saturday.
The match started close early with both teams trading points in the first six rallies. However, the Chaps began to take control and they rolled off a 10-1 run, taking a 13-4 lead. The Dustdevils kept fighting and were able to cut the deficit to five points at 20-15, but gave up a 5-1 run to close out the set 25-16.
Things looked to start the same as both teams were tied at 5-5. Again though, long runs by the Chaps changed the set. LCU went on a 10-2 run to take a 15-7 lead. They finished the set on an 8-1 run to take a 25-11 decision.Â
The third and final set continued the theme from the first two sets as TAMIU contended early, but fell victim to long runs that created large deficits. The Chaps would go on a 9-1 run to take a 20-10 lead, and eventually took the set and the match 25-13.
The Dustdevils will go on the road on Thursday, Oct. 4 as they travel to Fort Smith, Ark. to face off against Arkansas Fort Smith.
