TYLER, Texas – Texas A&M International University women's soccer (2-10-2, 1-7-2 LSC) dropped a 2-0 Lone Star Conference decision on the road against the UT Tyler Patriots (4-10-0, 2-8-0 LSC) on Thursday evening.
Patriot midfielder Shaylee Anaya fired the first shot of the match but Dustdevil goalkeeper Elena Rivera was ready for it and rejected the shot at the 4:20 mark.
In the 25th minute, TAMIU midfielder Samantha Ruiz took the first shot on goal for the Dustdevils but it was saved by Patriot goalie Maya Dossing.
UT Tyler's Danielle Lacasse launched a shot that sailed to the right of the net that sent a scoreless half into intermission.
In the second half, Patriot defender Maren Moore drew a penalty in the box and converted on the penalty kick to break the scoring ice in the 61st minute.
In the 72nd minute, Patriot midfielder Mariah Harmon was fouled in the box and scored their second penalty kick goal of the match to extend their lead to a pair of goals (2-0).
Midfielder Gracielle Martinez took the final shot on goal for the Dustdevils but it was stopped by Dossing and it would settle the 2-0 match.
Rivera finished the match with seven saves while Dossing made four stops for the Patriots.
UT Tyler held the advantage in shots (21-9), shots on goal (9-4) and corner kicks (2-1).
The Dustdevils will travel to Tyler, Texas to take on Texas A&M-Commerce (7-6-1, 4-5-0 LSC) in a Lone Star Conference battle on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 12 p.m. .
