TAMIU Drops 83-74 Decision To Cal State San Bernardino

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Texas A&M International men's basketball (2-5) fell 83-74 to Cal State San Bernardino (4-2) in the second game of the CSUSB Thanksgiving Classic on Friday.

Senior Dominic Jackson led the Dustdevils with a career-high 21 points to go along with a rebound and an assist. Senior Caleb Highley posted 19 points with six rebounds and four assists. Freshman Jorge Meijas-Sanchez was one assist shy of a double-double with 15 points and nine assists, as well as four steals and a rebound. Junior Matija Novkovic contributed eight points, seven rebounds, two steals and two assists.

TAMIU came out of the gates hot with a 11-6 lead early in the game. The Coyotes bounced back and tied things at 12-12 though. Things grew tight for the next several minutes as neither team could get more than a single possession lead. With just under two minutes left in the half, CSUSB began to break away with its first double-digit lead of the game at 37-27. The Dustdevils fought back and were able to cut the deficit to 40-36 going into the intermission.

Things were close again at the start of the second half. TAMIU was able to cut the lead to a single point multiple times and eventually tied things at 51-51 with 11:53 left. The Coyotes responded with a 11-1 run over the next two minutes, taking a 62-52 lead. They jumped out to their largest lead at 83-71 with 35 seconds left. TAMIU was able to get three points back before CSUSB took the 83-74 victory.

The Dustdevils will be back in action tomorrow as they close out the CSUSB Thanksgiving Classic as they face off against Cal Poly Pomona.
