TAMIU women's soccer draws with Angelo State in thriller

SAN ANGELO, Texas – Texas A&M International University women's soccer (1-4-1, 0-1-1 Lone Star Conference) settled for a 3-3 Lone Star Conference draw against the Angelo State Rambelles (5-1-1, 1-0-1 Lone Star Conference) on Saturday afternoon. 

Angelo State broke the scoring ice 7:12 in when Ally Warren finished a feed from Emily Keoughan that beat Dustdevil goalkeeper Ashley Barrientos.
 
Vivian Martinez fired off the first shot for the Dustdevils but it was saved by Angelo State netminder, Kira Miller at 15:01. 

Keoughan posted the final shot of the half that went to the bottom right side of the net and was stopped by Barrientos to send a 1-0 match into intermission. 

The second half was a scoring barrage that featured a total of five goals. The Rambelles scored in the first 27 seconds after the break as Trenadey Scott found the back of the net to give Angelo State a two-goal advantage (2-0).

The Dustdevils showed their resiliency as Maddison Schofield scored a goal only 55 seconds after Scott's goal that slashed TAMIU's deficit to one (2-1) with 46:22 showing on the game clock. 

In the 60th minute, Schofield knotted the game at two apiece as she finished a feed from Izabella Correa that beat Miller. The Perth, Australia native's second goal marked her first career multi-goal match. She has now registered a goal in three of six matches this season for the Dustdevils. 

Angelo State's Kylie Hampton took a shot that was saved by Barrientos, however Hampton controlled her own rebound and scored to give the Rambelles a 3-2 lead at the 75:44 mark. 

In the 85th minute, Gracielle Martinez scored the equalizer for the Dustdevils to tie it up at three. The goal by Martinez would ultimately set the stage for overtime.
 
Barrientos recorded a career-high nine saves for the Dustdevils while Miller stopped a pair of shots for the Rambelles.

The overtime periods were a defensive stalemate that ultimately sealed the 3-3 draw.
   
Angelo State held the advantage in shots (21-7), corner kicks (6-1) and shots on goal (12-5). 

The Dustdevils will conclude their three-game Lone Star Conference road trip against the St. Mary's University Rattlers (2-5-0, 0-2-0 Lone Star Conference) in San Antonio, Texas on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 5 p.m.
