LAREDO, Texas -Â Texas A&M International men's basketball (3-17, 1-13 LSC) fell to Cameron (6-13, 5-8 LSC) in a 79-68 decision on the road on Thursday.
Three Dustdevils finished in double digits. Freshman Adrian Nosa led the squad with a season-high 16 points as well as a rebound and an assist. Junior Matija Novkovic logged 11 points, four rebounds and three steals. Junior Calvin Fugett Jr. posted 10 points with a rebound, an assist and a steal. Sophomore Tom Higgins contributed seven points, eight rebounds, an assist and a steal.
The Aggies came out of the gate on fire as they opened on a 17-5 run to start the game. They continued to roll as they pushed out to their largest lead of the half at 32-13 with two minutes left in the half. They eventually took a 32-16 advantage into the intermission.
Cameron carried their momentum out of the break as they ripped off a 10-2 run to a take their largest lead of the game at 42-18 just three minutes into the period. However, TAMIU slowly began to come to life as they began to trim the lead. Down 54-32, the Dustdevils went on a 12-3 run to cut the deficit to 57-44 with just over eight minutes left. They weren't done yet though, as they continued to grind and got the lead to 68-63 with 1:44 left to play. Unfortunately, fouls and free throws down the stretch kept them from getting any closer, as the Aggies took the 79-68 victory.
TAMIU will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 1 as they travel to Wichita Falls, Texas for a matchup against Midwestern State at 4 p.m. CT that will be aired live on ESPN3 and the ESPN app as a part of the NCAA Division II Showcase. Â
