KINGSVILLE, Texas -Â Texas A&M International men's basketball (3-21, 1-17 LSC) fell in a 96-62 decision to Texas A&M-Kingsville (18-6, 14-4 LSC) on Saturday.
Senior Caleb Highley led the Dustdevils with 16 points and seven rebounds as well as a block. Sophomore Tom Higgins posted nine points with four rebounds and an assist.
The majority of the first half was close as neither team was able to get more than a two-possession lead. The Javelinas began to break away with their first double-digit lead of the game at 31-21 with just over four minutes left in the half. They eventually took a 38-26 advantage into the intermission.
TAMUK carried their momentum into the second half as they opened on a 13-2 run to take a 51-28 lead. They kept rolling and took their first 30-point lead at 78-48 with six minutes left. The Javelinas pushed out to their largest lead of the game at 96-57 with one minute left. The Dustdevil were able to finish on a 5-0 run to cut TAMUK's victory to 96-62.
TAMIU will be back in action on Thursday, Feb. 20 as they travel to Lubbock, Texas for a matchup against Lubbock Christian.
