LAREDO, Texas -Â Texas A&M International baseball (3-7, 3-7 LSC) fell 12-6 in the series finale to Oklahoma Christian (3-7, 3-7 LSC) on Sunday.
The Eagles got things started in the first inning with an RBI double to right center to take an early 1-0 lead. They added another run in the fourth inning of a sacrifice fly to right to go up 2-0.
The Dustdevils answered with force in the bottom half of the fourth as they put up three runs. Isaac Gonzalez scored on a Phillip Sanchez double down the left field line. Luis Flores drove in Sanchez and Hunter Trinidad with a single to right for a 3-2 lead. They added another run in the fifth as Paris Johnson scored on a Gonzalez ground out to short.
OC exploded for seven runs in the seventh inning for a 9-4 lead. One run scored on an error by the pitcher, a run scored on a bases loaded walk, a run scored as a batter was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and another run scored on a bases loaded walk. Two runs scored on a two RBI single to right, with the final run scoring on a RBI double to left.Â
The Eagles added three more runs for a 12-4 lead in the eighth inning. Two runs scored on a two RBI triple to left center, with one run scoring on a RBI single up the middle.
TAMIU got two runs back in the ninth inning, but came up short 12-6. Flores scored on a throwing error by the shortstop, with Andrew Holsey scoring on an Adrian Castillo RBI single down the left field line.
OC's Jake Tomcheck (1-0) got the win in the decision. TAMIU's Caesar Lartigue (0-1) took the loss.
The Dustdevils will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 21 as they travel to Lawton, Okla. for a four-game series against Cameron.
