TAMIU Splits Doubleheader With Cameron

LAWTON, Okla. - Texas A&M International baseball (3-9, 3-9 LSC) split a doubleheader with Cameron (3-9, 3-9 LSC) on Saturday.

GAME 1 - CU 5, TAMIU 4 (8 innings)

Cameron got on the board first in the first game of the doubleheader with a leadoff solo home run for an early 1-0 lead. The Dustdevils answered in the bottom half of the inning with two runs. Isaac Gonzalez scored on a Phillip Sanchez RBI double to center. Hunter Trinidad scored as Anthony Handel grounded out to second to give TAMIU the 2-0 lead. 

Both pitching staffs threw three-straight scoreless frames in the third, fourth and fifth innings.

The Aggies retook the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the sixth, scoring two runs. One run scored on an RBI double to center, while the other run scored on an RBI single to left.

The Dustdevils responded by taking the lead back 4-3 in the top of the seventh with two runs. A two-run bomb to left by Andrew Holsey scored Luis Flores.

CU tied things up in the bottom half of the inning with a solo homer. They walked the game off in the bottom of the eighth on a RBI single to center with the bases loaded for the 5-4 victory.

The Aggies' Carter Bourg (1-0) earned the win in the decision. TAMIU's Caesar Lartigue (0-2) took the loss.

GAME 2 - TAMIU 4, CU 1

In the second game of the day, TAMIU jumped on the board first as Handel crossed home thanks to an RBI single form Adrian Castillo for an early 1-0 lead. They tacked on two more runs in the second to push out to a 3-0 lead. Antonio Buentello scored on an Ariben Gutierrez RBI double. Gutierrez then scored on a Handel RBI single to left.

The Dustdevils added one final run in the top of the fifth for a 4-0 lead. Handel scored on wild pitch.

The Aggies got one run in the bottom of the sixth, giving TAMIU a 4-1 victory. The one run scored on a RBI triple to center.

The Dustdevils' Justin Rumley (1-1) earned the complete game win in the decision. CU's Abel Rosario (0-1) suffered the loss.

TAMIU will look to split the series in the finale tomorrow at 12 p.m.
