LAREDO, Texas – Senior Patrycja Jaworska scored a game-high 23 points and senior Nicole Heyn tied the program record for three-pointers made in a game with seven, scoring 21 points as Texas A&M International (7-1, 4-1 LSC) matched the best start in program history, as well as set the longest win streak in program history with a 75-62 victory over St. Edward's (2-3, 2-3 LSC).

The Dustdevils continued their hot shooting from the matchups against Kentucky State, shooting 48% in the first half and 50% from three.

The first quarter was a track meet as the Dustdevils and Hilltoppers went back and forth to a 22-18 score with TAMIU holding the early edge.

However, the second quarter was all TAMIU as the Dustdevils used the 22-6 edge to expand their lead and held the Hilltoppers to just 19% shooting in the quarter and 0-5 from three.

Heyn scored 15 of her 21 points in the first half and was followed by Jaworska scoring 11 of her 21 points and seven points by freshman Silvia Blanco.

In the first half, TAMIU's stellar defense lead to 28% shooting from the floor for St. Edward's, 25% from three and the Dustdevils forced 16 turnovers.

The Hilltoppers fought back in the third quarter and early fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to as low as seven points. In the third quarter, St. Edward's shot 58% from the floor and a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line to cut the score to 61-51 after three quarters.

The Dustdevils were hurt by turnovers in the quarter as they were only able to get off six shots, connecting on four.

Early fourth quarter, the Hilltoppers continued to chip away, but the Dustdevils received timely three-pointers from both Heyn and Jaworska to up the lead back to 15 and coasted to the finish line.

For the game, TAMIU shot 48% from the floor and 50% from three, to go along with 83% from the free throw line. The Dustdevils also limited the Hilltoppers to 36% from the field in the game and 4-for-15 from three.

St. Edward's was led by junior Christina Mason scored 18 points and added seven assists and five steals. Freshman Lauren Catherman netted 11 points as the only other Hilltopper in double figures.

For the Dustdevils, Jaworska added five rebounds, eight assists and five steals to her 23 points, while Heyn added eight rebounds and four steals. Sophomore Clara Fernandez joined Heyn and Jaworska in double figures for the Dustdevils, scoring 12 points to go along with six rebounds, six assists and four steals.

The Dustdevils return to action Saturday afternoon in Austin, Texas as they conclude the season series with the Hilltoppers. Tip is scheduled for 1 p.m.
