LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas A&M International men's basketball (1-11, 1-8 LSC) fell to No. 16 Lubbock Christian (8-0, 8-0 LSC) in a 83-50 decision in the series finale on Saturday.
Sophomore Tyrese Davis led the Dustdevils and just missed a double-double with a season-high 17 points and nine rebounds to go along with two steals. Junior Tre Thomas posted 14 points with three rebounds, two assists and a steal. Sophomore Darian Gibson contributed 12 points with six rebounds, an assist and a steal.
The early goings of the game were competitive with both teams trading leads in the first five minutes. However, the Chaps took control with a 14-0 run to push out to a 21-9 lead. They closed out the half on a  24-5 run, carrying a 47-18 advantage into the intermission.
In the second half, the depleted Dustdevils managed to hold serve and not allow LCU to stretch their lead out much further. The Chaps largest lead of the game came at 78-43 with four and half minutes left. They eventually took an 83-50 victory.
The schedule doesn't get any easier for TAMIU as they return home on Friday, Jan. 29 and host No. 4 West Texas A&M in two-game series. The first game is set to tip-off at 7:30 p.m.Â
