LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas A&M International (8-3, 5-3 LSC) was unable to withstand a scorching start by #2 Lubbock Christian (8-0, 8-0 LSC) in the first quarter and the early double-digit deficit led to TAMIU's second straight loss, 85-42.

The first quarter was all Chaps like game one as they jumped out to a 26-11 lead after one quarter.

LCU shot 70% from the floor, 4-for-5 from three and 8-for-9 from the free throw line. For the Dustdevils, sophomore
Clara Fernandez led the way with five points.

The lead grew in the second quarter as LCU outscored TAMIU 24-10 to take a 50-21 lead into the locker room.

The first half saw the Dustdevils shoot 30% from the floor, but were effective from three shooting 5-for-9. Fernandez led the team in first half scoring with eight points.

On the other hand, LCU shot 56% from the field, 60% from three and were awarded 17 free throws, connecting on 16.

The Dustdevils battled back and forth in the third quarter, as seniors
Patrycja Jaworska and
Eva Langton both scored four points, along with Fernandez.

The fourth quarter was again the Chaps in charge, outscoring TAMIU 17-5 over the final 10 minutes.

For the game, TAMIU shot 31% from the floor and 39% from three, as well as 13-for-16 from the free throw line. On the other hand, the Chaps shot 53% from the floor and 50% from three. LCU also shot 29 free throws in the game, making 27. The turnover battle again was a key to the game as TAMIU committed 29 turnovers and forced only 13 LCU turnovers.

LCU again had four players in double figures, with senior Allie Schulte leading the way with a game high 14 points. Fellow seniors Emma Middleton and Ashton Duncan both contributed 12 points and senior Juliana Robertson scored 11 points.

For the Dustdevils, Fernandez led the way with 12 points and five rebounds. Langton followed behind with 10 points and Jaworska finished with eight points.

The Dustdevils will look to put aside this two-game skid and prepare to welcome nationally ranked West Texas A&M to Laredo, Texas for a two game non-division conference series next weekend. Game one of the two game series is slated for Friday Jan. 29 and tip-off is set for 5 p.m.
