TYLER, Texas – Texas A&M International volleyball ended the weekend road trip visiting #18 UT Tyler and in the end, it was the Patriots (14-0, 10-0 LSC) toppling the Dustdevils (2-14, 2-7 LSC), 3-0.

TAMIU was unable to get any momentum from the opening serve, as UT Tyler jumped ahead 6-2 early in set one, never looking back to take a 25-15 set win.

Set two saw an early spark by the Dustdevils, taking a 3-0 lead. However, the Patriots managed to find their grove, going on an eventual 16-6 run, helping win set two, 25-17.

In set three, it was again UT Tyler taking stride early, opening a 6-1 lead and never allowing TAMIU to close within more than three in the 25-16 set victory.

Mackenzie Catalina led the Dustdevils with 11 kills on the day, while sophomore
Yaretzi Ortiz finished with nine and senior
Lorena Martin Perez chipped in five.

Digs were at a minimum for TAMIU as senior
Deserey Gomez led the way with nine, followed by Perez with six.

Maison Kosse had a team high 16 assists, while freshman
Isabella Martinez was right behind with 14.

The Dustdevils return home for two matchups next weekend, beginning on Friday, Oct. 22. TAMIU welcomes UT Permian Basin to Laredo for a 6 p.m. start.
