LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International women's soccer broke a stretch of losses, tying Midwestern State on the road 2-2 on Saturday.

The Mustangs (5-2-3, 2-0-3 LSC) took the lead just 1:06 into the first half, forcing the Dustdevils (1-9-1, 0-5-1 LSC) to play catch up.

TAMIU responded a little over 10 minutes later, at 12:12, when junior
Vivian Martinez netted an unassisted goal.

The score remained tied through halftime, until Midwestern State regained the lead at 53:56, making the score 2-1.

The Dustdevils again responded quickly, when freshman
Irene Robles scored her first collegiate goal, on assists by sophomore
Krysan St. Louis and senior
Tritch Ann Grant.

The 2-2 tie held serve from that point on, including the two overtimes.

Martinez led the Dustdevils taking seven shots and placed five on net. Senior
Valeria Macias followed with three shots and one on target.

Sophomore goalkeeper
Fabiana Solano was stellar in goal for TAMIU, stopping 16 of the 18 shots she faced in the contest.

TAMIU was outshot in the contest 27-14 and 14-8 in shots on goal. Corner kicks also went in favor of the Mustangs, 9-3.

The Dustdevils will look to add a win to the ledger, when they travel to San Antonio, Texas on Wednesday, Oct. 13 for a matchup against St. Mary's. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
