LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International men's basketball capped off the best start in program history with a dominating 83-51 win over Huston-Tillitson.

Early shooting woes on both sides kept the game low-scoring early, as TAMIU (4-0, 0-0 LSC) led just 14-11 with 7:52 remaining in the first half.

The Dustdevils would settle in to score 24 points over the final 7:13 to take a 38-24 lead into the locker room.

TAMIU rallied to shoot 40% (14-35) from the field over the first 20 minutes, 3-9 from three and 7-13 from the free throw line.

The Dustdevils stingy defense continued, limiting the Rams to just 29.6% (8-27) from the floor in the first half, including 3-11 from deep.

TAMIU put the peddle down in the second half, outscoring Huston-Tillitson 45-27.

The Dustdevils had multiple runs of six points or more to none in the final 20 minutes to help expand the lead to its eventual final of 83-51.

On the night, the Dustdevils shot 45.3% (29-64) and 6-20 from distance. The free throw percentage ended at 59.4%. They forced 25 Rams turnovers, outrebounded them 42-28 and outscored Huston Tillitson 33-9 in points off turnovers.

The Rams ended the game shooting 36.5% (19-52), 4-19 from three and 9-17 from the charity stripe.

Greg Bowie II paved the way with 21 points, five rebounds and three steals, as the only Dustdevil in double figures as the wealth was distributed around.

Jermaine Drewey followed with nine points, four rebounds and three steals, while fellow junior
La-Quiem Walker scored seven points along with eight rebounds, two blocks and two steals.

TAMIU has sparked early in 2021 and will look to take the winning ways on the road over the Thanksgiving holiday. The Dustdevils return to the floor on Friday, Nov. 26 against Colorado State-Pueblo in Pueblo, Colo. Tip is slated for 8 p.m. CST/7 p.m. MST.
