LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International baseball (4-8, 4-8 LSC) fell in the series finale 19-1 to Oklahoma Christian (3-3, 3-3 LSC) on Saturday.
The Eagles got things started in the second inning with five runs to jump out to a 5-0 lead. A two RBI homer to center field scored two runs, an RBI single to left scored another run and a two RBI double to left center scored the remaining runs.
OC added four more runs in the fourth inning to expand their lead to 9-0. A solo homer to right center plated the first run, with an RBI double to left center and a two RBI double to left center scoring the other runs.
The Dustdevils got their only run of the game in the bottom of the fourth to trim the lead to 9-1. Ronnie Bailey blasted a shot over the left field wall for the lone run.
A grand slam in the fifth inning gave the Eagles four runs for a 13-1 lead. They continued to pour on the runs in the sixth with five more. The first run came in on an RBI single to center. A two RBI homer to right scored two runs, followed by an RBI double down the right field line and a RBI single to left to go up 18-1.
OC scored one final run in the seventh to clinch the victory 19-1 on an RBI single to left.
Julien Ly (1-0) earned the win. Joseph Garza-Delapena (1-2) took the loss.
The Dustdevils will be back in action on March 5 as they travel to San Antonio, Texas for a three-game series against St. Mary's. Game one is set for a 6 p.m. first pitch.
