WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Texas A&M International men's soccer (2-1-1, 2-1-1 LSC) battled to a 1-1 draw against Midwestern State (3-1-1, 2-1-1 LSC) in a hard-fought battle of two of the Lone Star Conference's top three teams in the preseason poll.
The Dustdevils were the first to score when senior
Kristian Colaci netted his second goal of the season, unassisted, at the 43:20 mark of the first half.

In the first half, it was Midwestern State leading the way in shots (9-3) and corner kicks (7-0).

The Mustangs found their response in the second half at 79:37 when Julian Barajas tied the game with his second goal of the season, assisted by Erwin Regules.

Playing the full two overtimes, it was again the Mustangs forcing the issue, outshooting the Dustdevils 7-0 in the two 10 minute frames, getting two shots on net.

For the game, Midwestern State outshot TAMIU 19-6, led in shots on goal 5-3 and in corner kicks 11-1.

Offensively, Colaci took four of the Dustdevils six shots and put all three on net for the team. Junior's
Kodai Kobayashi and
Johan Portales combined for the other two shots on goal.

Two goalkeepers saw time for TAMIU with freshman Naxto Faus playing 72:35 and saving all four shots he face. Senior
Nils van der Landen played 37:25 and allowed the lone goal.
After three consecutive games without a loss, the Dustdevils return home on March 16 for a matchup against Lubbock Christian. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
