LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International baseball (6-14, 6-14 LSC) dropped game two of the series 13-2 to No. 1 Angelo State (13-2, 9-2 LSC) on Saturday.
After two scoreless innings to begin the game, Angelo State got on the board first with a run in the third inning. The run came in on an RBI single.
The Rams added three runs in the fourth to go up 4-0. The first run crossed on an RBI single up the middle. Two runs scored on a throwing error by the second baseman.
The Dustdevils offense showed some life in the fifth as they cut the deficit in half 4-2. Matt Kissamis brought home Brock Hargens with a two-run blast to left field. ASU answered in the bottom half of the inning with a three-run homer of their own to left to push out to 7-2.
ASU tacked on six runs in the bottom of the eighth to seal the win to 13-2. The run came in on an RBI single up the middle. Another run came in on a sacrifice fly to right. An RBI single to second base brought in the third run. A three-run homer to left brought in the final three runs.
Jake Rogers (1-0) got the win. Joseph Garza-Delapena (1-3) took the loss.
The two teams will face off one last time in the series finale tomorrow. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
