TAMIU Drops Game Two to No. 5 West Texas A&M

LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International baseball (7-21, 6-20 LSC) dropped game two 8-2 to No. 5 West Texas A&M (28-4, 25-3 LSC) on Saturday.

After two shutout innings from both starters, the Buffaloes broke the seal with two runs in the third inning to take an early 2-0 lead. Both runs came in on an error by the shortstop.

WT broke the game open in the sixth inning as they exploded for five runs to go up 7-0. The first run came in on an RBI single through the left side of the infield. Two runs crossed on an RBI single to right. An RBI double to left scored two more runs, with the final run coming in on an RBI single to the shortstop.

The Dustdevils got on the board in the bottom of the seventh to cut the lead to 7-1. Paris Johnson scored as Brock Hargens earned a bases loaded walk.

The Buffaloes got the run back in the top of the eighth to push back out to 8-1. The run scored on an RBI double to left. 

TAMIU would add one final run in the bottom half of the inning, but ultimately fell 8-2. Isaac Gonzalez scored Daniel Quiroz on an RBI single to left.

Todd Danzeisen (6-0) earned the win. Joseph Garza-Delapena (1-5) took the loss.

The two teams will face off in the series finale tomorrow. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
