LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International University Director of Athletics
Griz Zimmermann announced the hiring of
Sean Saputo as Sports Information Director on Monday.
"This is a tremendous opportunity, and I am very excited to rejoin the Dustdevil family," said Saputo. "Having the opportunity to rejoin TAMIU was hard to pass on, as I enjoyed every moment being the Assistant Sports Information Director in my initial run as a Dustdevil."
Saputo stepped away from TAMIU briefly, as he took over as the Sports Information Director at Keystone College in May of this year.
Saputo spent just over a year at TAMIU as he was the Assistant Sports Information Director from March 2020-May 2021. He will again be the primary contact for men's/women's soccer, softball, women's basketball and cross country.
Prior to TAMIU, in 2019, Saputo took on the role as multimedia intern for the DICK's Sporting Goods PONY League World Series (DSGPLWS) in Washington Co., PA. He oversaw all DSGPLWS social media accounts, image creation, team preview articles and website editing.
Saputo worked the DSGPLWS five years beforehand, in charge of running the live online statistics, as well as game recap writing.
In 2016, Saputo joined Chatham University as the Sports Information Graduate Assistant, a role he held until 2018. At Chatham, Saputo oversaw live stats for volleyball and women's hockey, as well as the creation of game programs, game recaps and updating the back end of the athletics website.
Saputo's work in university athletics began as an undergraduate student at Waynesburg University. During his time there (2012-16), he worked for the university's student-run athletic productions as a broadcaster and director.
Furthermore, he worked for the student-run television station where he was the Sports Director, in charge of attending athletic events and editing highlights for usage on the station. He also spent time helping the sports information department with athletic events.
A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Saputo received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sports Broadcasting/Sports Information from Waynesburg University in 2016. He then received a Master of Arts degree in Strategic Communication from Chatham University in 2019.
