Dustdevils Lose Two Hard Fought Matches to Start Season

The Texas A&M International men’s soccer team headed west to start their 2021 season with two contest on the road against Montana State Billings on Thursday night, followed by a Saturday contest against Colorado Mesa.

Grand Junction, CO- The Texas A&M International men's soccer team headed west to start their 2021 season with two contest on the road against Montana State Billings on Thursday night, followed by a Saturday contest against Colorado Mesa.
Both contests were well played matches that unfortunately ended up with the Dustdevils on the wrong side of each contest losing by a goal in each match.
In game one against Montana State Billings the Dustdevils took a tough 3-2 loss in OT with a standout performance by Kristian Colaci scoring both of TAMIU's goals. Johan Portales and Giovanni Pezzi each contributed an assist in the contest.
In game two against Colorado Mesa the Dustdevils took a 1-0 loss in OT to finish the weekend. The Dustdevils were unfortunately shut out but showed stellar defense from the entire squad, especially goalkeeper Nils van der Landen who saved four out of five shots on goal. The Dustdevils outshot the Mavericks in the contest just unfortunately couldn't net a goal on the match.
The Dustdevils will return to action at home for their season home opener against South Dakota Mines on Thursday at 7 PM at Dustdevil soccer complex.
