LAREDO, Texas – After his first season at the helm of Texas A&M International University baseball in 2021, followed by signing the No. 29 recruiting class in NCAA Division II by Perfect Game and the top recruiting class in the Lone Star Conference, head baseball coach
Philip Middleton announced the 2022 schedule on Friday.
The Dustdevils play a majority conference schedule with just a few non-conference matchups. All conference games are four-game series with a single, nine inning game on the first and third dates and a seven-inning doubleheader on the second day.
TAMIU opens the season at Jorge Haynes Field in Laredo as they host UT Permian Basin on Feb. 4-6, followed by a road trip to UT Tyler, Feb. 11-13.
The Dustdevils then have a five-game home stand, beginning with a single non-conference matchup against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Tuesday, Feb. 15, before welcoming UAFS to town Feb. 18-20.
TAMIU then follows with a five-game road stretch, with a four game set against Oklahoma Christian Feb. 25-27, then a non-conference tilt against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Tuesday, Mar. 1.Â
The remainder of the season rotates back and forth, home and away, beginning with St. Mary's at home Mar. 4-6.
The Dustdevils then play at Lubbock Christian (Mar. 11-13), home against Angelo State (Mar. 18-20), at Texas A&M-Kingsville (Apr. 1-3), vs St. Edward's (Apr. 8-10).
TAMIU then has an early week over the Easter Weekend, playing at West Texas A&M Thursday, Apr. 14-Saturday, Apr. 16, the only series of the season not Friday-Sunday.
The Dustdevils then celebrate senior weekend Apr. 22-24 against Eastern New Mexico, before rounding out the season on the road against Cameron Apr. 29-May. 1.
The Lone Star Conference Tournament is slated for Friday, May. 6-Sunday, May. 8, with the LSC Championship Finals the following week, Thursday, May. 12-Saturday, May. 14. Sites are to be determined.
