DALLAS, Texas – Texas A&M International men's soccer opened its Lone Star Conference schedule on the road against DBU, but it was one to put aside quickly, as the Dustdevils fell to the Patriots, 5-2.

It was an even first half for the first 40 minutes as the score was tied 1-1.

DBU (2-3-4, 1-0-0 LSC) opened the scoring at the 26:09 mark, but then TAMIU (2-4-4, 0-1-0 LSC) received some help from the Patriots, as an own goal tied the game at 33:11.

Then a forgetful final 2:47 happened for the Dustdevils, as DBU netted three goals in that time frame, including two in the final minute of the half, to lead 4-1 at the break.

The Patriots added their fifth goal at 83:18 before TAMIU scored its second goal of the night at the 88:32 mark when freshman
Jorge Mares scored his first collegiate goal.

The Dustdevils were outshot 16-9 in the game, as well as 7-5 in the shots on goal department.

Lassana Diakite led the team with four shots in the game and two shots on goal.

TAMIU opens its home conference schedule on Wednesday, Oct. 5 when it welcomes UT Permian Basin to the TAMIU Soccer Complex. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
