LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International men's soccer saw a second half lead slip away, falling to UT Permian 3-2 in the Lone Star Conference home opener.

It was a scoreless first half, that saw UTPB hold the edge in shots 10-9 and 7-3 in shots on goal.

TAMIU (2-5-4, 0-2-0 LSC) scored the game's first goal at 53:17 when junior
Jordan Mase scored his second goal of the season.

Just 3:18 seconds later, the Falcons (3-2-3, 1-0-1 LSC) would respond and tie the game 1-1.

At 67:47, sophomore
Ricky Casso scored his second of the season to give the Dustdevils a 2-1 lead, with assists coming from Mase and junior
Lassana Diakite.

Yet again, UTPB responded quickly, this time 2:23 later, drawing a yellow card in the box that led to a penalty shot goal to tie the game 2-2.

The Falcons quickly took a 3-2 lead, scoring 2:52 after tying the game and held on the final 16:58 to seal the win.

TAMIU outshot UTPB 18-17 in the game, but it was the Falcons holding the edge in shots on goal at a margin of 13-7.

Mase led the team with six shots five of which were on target, while Diakite, junior
Tajani Fairclough and freshman
Nico Weigandt all had three shots, but only one of the combined nine shots were on net.

The Dustdevils now prepare for a tough road contest on Saturday, Oct. 8, when they head to Canyon, Texas to face West Texas A&M. Opening kick is slated for 1 p.m.
