LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International women's basketball celebrated
Eva Langton's senior day as the TAMIU closed out its 2021-22 regular season home schedule, and did so in dominating fashion, defeating Midwestern State 79-53, clinching a spot in the Lone Star Conference Tournament.

It was even early as the first quarter finished with the Dustdevils (16-8, 7-6 LSC) holding a 20-18 lead.

In the second quarter, TAMIU opened up multiple double-digit leads, holding one by as many as 12 after a 9-0 run to make the score 39-27, but the Mustangs (12-12, 6-8 LSC) used a 6-0 run to close the quarter and the score at the half was 39-33.

Out of the locker room, the Dustdevil offense began to click on all cylinders and the defense was stifling.

TAMIU outscored Midwestern State 27-10, using a 20-0 run from 8:01 remaining until 2:17 remaining and led 66-43 going into the fourth.

The final quarter was low scoring as the Dustdevils added to its lead by winning the quarter 13-10.

The Dustdevils for the game shot 41.4% (29-for-70) from the floor and 54.5% (6-for-11) from deep. TAMIU converted at the free-throw line 15 of 18 attempts.

On the other side, the Mustangs finished 20-for-57 (35.1%) from the floor, 6-for-12 (50%) from deep and 7-for-11 from the free-throw line.

Sophomore
Rai Brown led the Dustdevils in scoring, with 28 points, nine rebounds, a block and three steals.

Freshman
Evelyn Quiroz came off the bench and scored 19 points with six rebounds, while freshman
MiLinda Arguellez scored 12 points with three rebounds and two assists.

Langton in her what could be her last game inside the KCB finished with a stat stuffing two points, seven rebounds, six assists, two blocks and a steal.

TAMIU now ends the season with an important three-game road trip as they look to still potentially host a game in the LSC Tournament. The trip begins on Monday, Feb. 21 in Silver City, N.M. against Western New Mexico at 6 p.m. CST/5 p.m. MST.
