LAWTON, Okla. –Texas A&M International men's basketball saw its postseason hopes slip away at the hand of Cameron on Thursday night, falling to the Aggies, 75-65.
 
The first half was one that saw even play early, followed by runs by both teams as the score at the half read 31-27 in favor of TAMIU.
 
Over the first 9:24 the game was back-and-forth as the teams remained tied with score 11-11.
 
The Dustdevils (13-13, 5-10 LSC) trailed shortly after, the tied the game at 13-13 with 10:03 remaining.
 
That basket was the beginning of a 13-0 run that lasted until 6:26 remaining that allowed TAMIU to open a 24-13 lead.
 
The Aggies (5-17, 3-12 LSC) would counter with a 10-0 run of their own to make the score 24-23 with 3:40 remaining, proceeded by the teams alternating 4-0 runs to close the half.
 
Out of halftime, the Dustdevils jumped ahead 40-27 using a 9-0 run on back-to-back-to-back three pointers.
 
TAMIU continued to hold the lead and did so at 49-45 with 10:41 remaining.
 
However, Cameron responded with a run of 14-1 to open up a 59-50 lead with 5:53 left in the half.
 
From there, the Aggies would open a double-digit lead at 64-53 and never allowed the Dustdevils to come closer than 10 points to seal the victory.
 
In the loss, the Dustdevils shot 21-for-54 (38.9%) from the floor, 9-for-28 (32.1%) from behind the arc and just 14-for-26 from the free-throw line.
 
On the other end, Cameron shot 50%, going 25-for-50 from the field and 7-for-14 (50%) from deep. The Aggies were 18-for-26 from the charity stripe. It was the second half shooting of 14-for-22 (63.6%) that sparked them to the win.
 
Senior 
Greg Bowie II led TAMIU in scoring with 20 points on 5-for-9 shooting and 7-for-11 from the free-throw line.
 
Junior 
Jermaine Drewey followed with 11 points and seven rebounds, while junior 
Tre Thomas added nine points and five rebounds.
 
With the LSC Tournament hopes thwarted, the Dustdevils close the 2021-22 season on Saturday, Feb. 26 against #15/#22 West Texas A&M. Opening tip from Canyon, Texas is scheduled for 4 p.m.
