LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International volleyball head coach
Brittany Harry announced the signings of Emma Lade, Katy Geurin and Lixai Perez to the 2022 class.
Emma Lade
Lade is set to join the Dustdevils after graduation from Mayer Lutheran High School in Minnesota.
A native of Howard Lake, Minn., Lade is a three-sport athlete, playing basketball and softball.
Lade is a three-time All-Area selection, as well as a two-time All-Conference honoree. This past season she was named to both the All-Tournament and All-State teams, helping lead her squad to the Minnesota 1A State Championship.
"Emma has the ability to run a 5-1 and will definitely compete for playing time right away as a freshman," said Coach Harry. "We are so glad she chose to become a Dustdevil."
Katy Geurin
Another incoming high school recruit, Geurin will join TAMIU after graduation from Flour Bluff High School.
A native of Corpus Christi, Texas, Geurin is a two-time Academic All-District honoree, Honorable Mention All-District as a sophomore, Second Team All-District as a junior and the District MVP and THSCA Academic All-State selection as a senior.
She comes from a family of athletes, as both her mother (Amy) and father (Jeff) played volleyball and basketball respectively at Schreiner University. Her sister, Gloria, is a volleyball player at UT Permian Basin.
"Katy is a tough as nails volleyball player that plays with a ton of energy," said Harry. "She is a strong, physical hitter that has experience in every position up front. The physicality that she brings to our team will put her in the mix to contribute immediately on the court."
Lixai Perez
An incoming junior college transfer, Perez joins TAMIU volleyball after a successful stint at Blinn College.
A native of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, Perez graduated from Academia Discipulos de Cristo, prior to joining Blinn.
In both season as a Buccaneer, Perez was First Team All-Conference, and this past season was named the Conference Libero of the Year.
"Lixai is just about as good of a libero as I have ever seen/coached," says Harry. "Her first contact passing, and defense is unbelievable and her ability to read the game and know how a play is developing is a skill that she has mastered. Her former Blinn teammate is current Dustdevil Giulia Hortelan, who transferred to us at the semester, and I know they are both equally excited to be teammates once again. I can't wait to get her in the gym in August and get to work."
