OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – Texas A&M International baseball opened its four game series against Oklahoma Christian on Sunday in doubleheader action, but in the end it was the Eagles coming out on top in both games.

TAMIU jumped ahead immediately to open the series, scoring one run in both the top of the first and second innings.

Junior
Matt Kissamis started the scoring with an RBI fielder's choice in the first, then junior
Mario Chacon made it 2-0 in the second with an RBI single.
Â
The lead grew to 3-0 in the sixth inning, when junior
Isaac Gonzalez notched an RBI single of his own.
Â
Oklahoma Christian would trim the deficit in the bottom of the sixth inning to 3-2 on an RBI single and a run scoring on a double play.

The Dustdevils gave themselves an insurance run in the top of the seventh inning when senior
Ariben Gutierrez reached on an RBI fielder's choice.

However, the Eagles would make up the ground in the bottom of the seventh, scoring three runs off an RBI double and single to take home the victory.

Senior
Abanny Garcia 5.2 innings, allowing two runs, five hits, two walks and struck out six.

In relief, senior
Andrew Pavon allowed three runs, five hits and struck out two in 1.2 innings of work.

At the plate, TAMIU collected six hits, with six different Dustdevils having one hit each.

Game two was all about the pitching, as the two teams combined for just four runs and eight hits in the contest.

Oklahoma Christian opened with the lead in the bottom with the first with the eventual game-winning hit, a two-run home run.
Â
TAMIU cut the deficit to 2-1 in the top of the fourth when a run scored on a fielding error by a ball hit by junior
Antonio Buentello.

The last run of the contest, scored by the Eagles, came across during a pickoff rundown.
Â
In the game, all four runs that scored were unearned runs for the pitchers.

Freshman
Christopher Sauceda worked 4.1 innings in the start, allowing three unearned runs, five hits, four walk and four strikeouts.

Sophomore
Adrian Talavera impressed in relief, throwing 3.2 innings, allowing one hit, three walks and struck out three.

Buentello and Kissamis collected the two hits for the Dustdevils in the contest, both going 1-for-3 at the plate.

TAMIU now looks to salvage the series and finish with a split in tomorrow's seven inning/nine inning doubleheader that is set to begin at 12 p.m.
