LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas A&M International baseball looked to position itself for a split in the season series with Lubbock Christian, but it was the Chaps coming out victorious in game three, 14-4 in eight innings.

Lubbock Christian jumped ahead in the bottom of the second, scoring a single run to make it a 1-0 game.

Junior
Mario Chacon countered for TAMIU, with a two-run home run, his third of the series, to make it a 2-1 game.

However, the Chaps would score the next 12 runs, with six coming in the bottom of the third, two in the bottom of the fifth and four in the bottom of the sixth, to make it a 13-2 game.

The Dustdevils avoided the run-rule in the top of the seventh, when sophomore
Cameron Stevenson doubled in a pair to make it 13-4.

Again, Lubbock Christian would respond and sealed the run-rule victory with a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth.

Senior
Abanny Garcia took the mound for TAMIU and in 2.2 innings, allowed seven runs, eight hits, two walks and struck out four.

Sophomore
Andrew Delgadillo tossed 2.1 innings in relief, allowing four runs, four hits, two walks and two strikeouts.

Freshman
Emilio Duque pitched one inning, giving up two runs, two hits, three walks and fanned two, while junior
Steven Grimes allowed one run and one hit in one inning of relief as well.

The Dustdevils sprayed seven hits in the game, with seven different hitters collecting a single hit.

TAMIU looks to finish the series with a win and avoid the sweep, as they play game four at 1 p.m. tomorrow, Mar. 14.
