KINGSVILLE, Texas – Texas A&M International baseball met Texas A&M-Kingsville for the second time this season in non-conference action and again, it was the Javelinas coming out victorious, 8-0.
Two innings went by with both teams coasting through as it remained scoreless.
TAMUK scored its first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning to take a 1-0 lead.
After a scoreless fourth inning, the Javelinas would add a run in the fifth inning, followed by two runs in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to seal the victory.
TAMIU's best chances to score came in the second, fifth and eighth inning, getting runners in scoring position, but just couldn't get that timely hit.
Sophomore
Andrew Delgadillo pitched four strong innings for the Dustdevils, allowing just one run, five hits and struck out four.
Freshman
Emilio Duque pitched one inning of relief, allowing one unearned run, one hit, two walks and a strikeout.
Five other's combined to pitch the remaining three innings and allowed six runs, five hits, five walks and struck out two.
TAMIU collected six hits in the game with six player's having one hit, including freshman
Andrew Leal and sophomore Kike Alvarado who each had a double.
The Dustdevils have a day off to ready themselves for a four game series against St. Mary's that is set to begin on Friday, Mar. 4. First pitch for game one of the series is set for 2 p.m.
