LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International softball faced its third consecutive top 15 opponent in #11 Angelo State, and in the end it was the Rambelles taking the doubleheader 10-0 and 8-2.

Game 1: #11 Angelo State 10 Texas A&M International 0 F/5

Both teams had early opportunities to hit the scoreboard, as both left the bases loaded in the first inning and a runner at second base in the second inning.

Angelo State sparked in the third inning, collecting eight runs on just four hits, before adding two more in the top of the fifth inning.
Â
The Dustdevils had another chance in the bottom of the fifth to push a run across, but left runners stranded at second and third.

Junior
Darrian Smith got the start in the circle and allowed eight runs, three hits, eight walks and struck out five

Freshman Carla Arrellano pitched 2.1 innings in relief and allowed two runs (one earned), two hits, three walks and struck out four.

Offensively, TAMIU had three hits with freshman

Victoria Maldonado and junior
Briana Arredondo all having one.
Game 2: #11 Angelo State 8 Texas A&M International 2
Angelo State took the lead in the third inning after two scoreless frames, with a run, then made it 2-0 in the top of the fourth.

TAMIU would cut the deficit in half with an RBI double by Smith to make it 2-1.

The Rambelles then posted another crooked number, with six in the top of the fifth to lead 8-1.

Sophomore
Victoria Gonzalez drove in the final run of the game with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Â
Gonzalez started for TAMIU on the rubber and in 4.2 innings, allowed seven runs, seven hits and six walks.
Â
Arellano worked a second game out of the bullpen and threw 2.1 innings while allowing just one run, four hits, two walks and a strikeout.

TAMIU collected five hits as a team in game two, with Maldonado, Arredondo, Smith, junior
Heather Ruiz and senior
Christina Garcia all having one each.
