LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International softball faced #11 Angelo State in non-conference action on Saturday, with the Rambelles earning the 7-2 victory in the end.

Angelo State scored early and often, with two runs in the first and second innings and three in the third inning to jump ahead 7-0 on TAMIU.

In the bottom of the third, junior
Briana Arredondo drove in the first Dustdevil run with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the sixth, sophomore
Victoria Gonzalez belted a solo home run to conclude the scoring in the contest.

Freshman
Sara Papizan got the start in the circle and in two innings, allowed four runs, four hits, one walk and struck out two.

Freshman Carla Arrellano pitched two innings in relief and allowed three runs, two hits and a strikeout.

Gonzalez threw the final three innings and allowed one hit, a walk and fanned one.

Offensively, TAMIU matched the Rambelles with seven hits, as graduate student
Victoria Maldonado and junior
Heather Ruiz led the way with 2-for-3 outings.

The Dustdevils must quickly regroup, as they welcome #15 Lubbock Christian to Laredo for a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m., Sunday, Apr. 10.
