Harry Adds Menchaca and Salinas to 2022 Class

LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International volleyball head coach Brittany Harry announced the signings of Meagan Menchaca and Karina Salinas to the 2022 class.

Meagan Menchaca

As a native of Laredo, Texas, Menchaca will come to TAMIU after her time at California State University, Los Angeles.

The senior transfer started her collegiate career at UTSA where she appeared in three matches and seven sets for the Division 1 program. Meagan was named Incoming Freshman of the Year in 2017 and had a season high three kills against SMU.

At John B. Alexander High School, Menchaca was a four-year varsity player who led her team to four consecutive district and area championships. The 6-foot outside hitter was named All-City Newcomer in 2013 and District 29-6A and All-City MVP in back-to-back seasons as a junior and senior. Additionally, Menchaca earned All-League honors all four years during her time at AHS as well as earning a spot on the All-Academic Team in 2015. Meagan was a two-time winner of the Outstanding Hitter for the Bulldogs in 2013-2014 and as a high school senior helped her team advance to a regional title.

"Meagan is a 6-1 lefty-right side who will bring a ton of experience to our right-side position.  Meagan has great experience playing at the D1 and D2 level before transferring to us at TAMIU.  We have seen Meagan grow up since her playing days at Alexander HS and I think it is going to be really great for her play in her hometown to finish up her college career as a Dustdevil."  – Coach Brittany Harry

Meagan will be pursuing her Bachelor of Arts in Business while at TAMIU.

Karina Salinas

An incoming transfer recruit, Karina Salinas will join TAMIU from Midland College.

A native from Mission, Texas, Salinas played for Veterans Memorial High School and RGV Venom.

Coming from Midland College, Salinas was named WJCAC All-Conference Outside Hitter her freshman and sophomore year. Not only has Karina been acknowledged for her accomplishments on the court, but off the court she was named to the WJCAC All- Academic Second Team in 2020 for her academic achievements.

"I am so excited to add Karina to our Dustdevils family!  Karina is a South Texas kid that we have known since she was in high school.  She was able to gain some incredible experience in her two years at the JUCO level at Midland College.  She is going to add some depth to our pin positions, and I think she will do some great things at TAMIU." – Coach Brittany Harry

Salinas is excited to be a part of the TAMIU program and continue to play volleyball as she continues to pursue her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.
