RICHARDSON, Texas – Texas A&M International volleyball was tabbed to finished 14
th in the Lone Star Conference Volleyball Preseason Poll, as announced Tuesday morning.
The Dustdevils received 188 points and were picked to finish 14
th out of 17 teams. West Texas A&M is the favorite to claim the Lone Star Conference championship, according to the 2022 LSC volleyball preseason poll. WT collected 707 total points with 21 of the 44 first-place votes. Angelo State (11 first place votes, 699 points), UT Tyler (seven first place votes, 680 points), Lubbock Christian (586 points), and DBU (three first place votes, 560 points) rounded out the top five teams in the poll.
UT Permian Basin (two first place votes, 491 points), St. Edward's (474 points), UAFS (460 points), St. Mary's (364 points), and Texas A&M-Kingsville (363 points) rounded out the top ten.
The Dustdevil volleyball season starts on the road August 25
th at the Northwest Nazarene Tournament in Nampa, Idaho. They begin LSC play at home against Texas A&M - Kingsville on Wednesday, Sept. 14
th. The LSC is utilizing a single round-robin scheduling model, in which each team plays a single game versus every other conference team.
The LSC champion will be determined by the 16 regular season games, while the postseason tournament winner is designated as LSC tournament champion and earns the conference's automatic qualification. The top eight teams will qualify for the postseason tournament at the No. 1 seed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, November 10-11-12.
