Box Score NAMPA, Idaho – Texas A&M International claim their first sweep of the season against Emory & Henry in their second game of the Northwest Nazarene Tournament.
The Dustdevils
Mackenzie Catalina opened the match with the scoring and led her team with 14 kills and four aces in the three sets.
The Dustdevils dominated the Wasps in the first set as they took a quick 11-5 lead. TAMIU went on a 5-1 point run and held the Wasps at only 10 points for the entire 1st set.
The momentum continued into the second set as TAMIU took a quick 4-0 lead. The scoring didn't stop there as
Giulia Horetlan linked up with
Emma Lade to send the Dustdevils on their next scoring streak of 8 points to win the set.
The Dustdevils entered the third set with a sweep in sight and put on the pressure as they went on a 7-point run to keep the Wasps at bay.
On the offensive attack,
Mackenzie Catalina was a significant threat, Giulia Horetlan totaled nine kills, Meagan Menchaca with six kills, and
Jasmin Garcia with five kills & three aces.
Emma Lade again led the way with assists, with 35 throughout the three sets.
With ease on the defense, digs were at a minimum, but Catalina racked up 11, Lade with 8, and Horetlan with 6.
TAMIU will play their third game of the tournament and second game of the day at 8:00 pm against the host Northwest Nazarene.
