LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International men's soccer concluded the TAMIU Classic against #9 Colorado Mesa in a hard-fought 1-0 loss to the Mavericks.

The lone goal of the game came at the 34:25 mark of the first half in an early season duel between two strong teams.

The Dustdevils were limited in chances in the first half, being outshot 7-4, however the offense really clicked in the second half, outshooting Colorado Mesa 10-6.

TAMIU placed eight shots on goal and had multiple chances in the final minutes, but came up just short on the opportunities.

Robin Verhoeven was stellar in goal, stopping eight of the nine shots he faced on the cage.

Corner kicks went in favor of the Dustdevils as well, at a margin of 5-4, with two of those coming late in the second half.

TAMIU has a few days to prepare themselves for NCAA Division I competition, as they face UTRGV at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 1.
