GUNNISON, Colo. – Texas A&M International women's soccer were unable to step out of its road trip with a victory, falling to Western Colorado, 2-1.

It was a scoreless first half despite the Dustdevils (3-2, 0-0 LSC) out shooting the Mountaineers (2-3-1, 0-0 RMAC) 9-4 over the first 45 minutes and 4-1 in shots on goal.

Western Colorado scored the game's first goal at 59:22 and then got an insurance goal at 71:47 as the lead then sat at 2-0.

TAMIU scored its only goal with 50 seconds remaining (89:10) when junior
Marta Forne scored on a penalty kick.

The Dustdevils added 10 more shots in the second half with six on target, giving them 19 on the game and 11 shots on goal. The Mountaineers took 10 shots in the game and only had five on target.

Alicia Martinez and
Krysan St. Louis all had three shots and two shots on goal to lead the team in both categories.

TAMIU returns home to prepare for its Lone Star Conference opener when they welcome Angelo State to Laredo for a 5 p.m. kickoff on Wednesday, Sept. 14.
