Dustdevils Fight To Scoreless Draw Against Patriots

LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International women's soccer battled to its second consecutive Lone Star Conference draw, tying UT Tyler 0-0.

After 90 minutes neither team was able to find the back of the net in what was a struggle for both teams to get shots on the net.

The Dustdevils (3-3-2, 0-1-2 LSC) had seven shots on goal and three on the cage. One shot came extremely close, hitting the keeper, the crossbar and then off the keeper yet again that landed out of play.

On the other side, the Patriots (6-1-1, 1-1-1 LSC) had 13 shots and five on the cage. Two UT Tyler shots came extremely close from sneaking under the crossbar, but junior keeper Fabiana Solano made two incredible saves to keep the game scoreless.

Redshirt sophomore Andrea Castellanos led the team with two shots, while five others had one.

Castellanos and junior's Lucia Cuadra and Alicia Martinez combined for the three shots on goal.

TAMIU returns to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 24 to begin a two-game road trip. First up is Lubbock Christian in Lubbock, Texas for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
