LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International Baseball erased a 15-run deficit in Sunday's series final against Cameron at home, but surrendered eight runs in the final four innings in a 23-22 defeat.Â

TAMIU (4-9, 4-8 LSC) took an early 1-0 lead after senior
Mario Chacon hit an RBI single to center field.Â

The Aggies (2-10, 2-10 LSC) then scored 15 straight runs, adding five in the second, four in the third and six in the fourth.Â

The Dustdevils didn't give up and started to rally in the bottom of the fourth, scoring four runs.Â

TAMIU added four more runs in the fifth to make the score 15-9.Â

Alex Lugo reached home after another walk with bases loaded, Bailey scored after a hit batter with bases loaded and Stevenson hit a two-RBI single.Â

The Aggies scored two runs in the top of the sixth to make the score 17-9, but the Dustdevils responded with eight runs to tie the game at 17-17 in the bottom of the sixth.Â

Thomas Barnhart scored after another hit batter with bases loaded and Lugo scored after a walk with bases loaded.Â

Cameron took a one-run lead in the top of the seventh before TAMIU captured the lead for the first time since the first inning by scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh, taking a 4-1 lead.Â

Matt Kissamis scored on a wild pitch, Alfonzo doubled in a pair of runs and Bailey hit a sacrifice fly to plate a run.Â

But, the Aggies used one final rally to plate five runs in the top of the ninth and the Dustdevils only mustered a single run to make the final score 23-23.Â

The lone run came on the final play of the game when junior
Ariben Gutierrez hit a sacrifice fly to right field allowing Barnhart to score, but Cameron recorded the final out at third base on the same play to end the game.Â

Junior
Danny Dial got the start for TAMIU on the mound, pitching two innings, allowing nine runs on seven hits while walking two and striking out four.Â
Â
Six different arms came in for relief, combining for 14 runs (13 earned), 14 hits, six walks and four strikeouts.Â
Â
Bailey, Stevenson and Alfonzo all recorded three hits on the day and junior
Joseph Cruz tallied two.Â
Â
The Dustdevils will be in action next at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24 at UT Permian Basin for game one of a four-game series.
