LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International softball concluded its season series against #19 Oklahoma Christian, falling to the Eagles 7-0.
Oklahoma Christian (11-4, 6-3 LSC) was shut down in the first inning, but proceeded to score every inning between the second and the sixth.
The Eagles plated a run in the second on a sacrifice fly, one in the third on an RBI single, an RBI triple in the fourth and a run by way of a TAMIU error in the sixth.
Oklahoma Christian did most of the damage in the fifth, scoring a run on a fielder's choice that led to a rundown, then a two RBI double.
The Dustdevils (8-12, 4-5 LSC) only managed to have one baserunner reach in the game, a walk drawn by graduate
Victoria Maldonado in the top of the first inning.
Senior
Darrian Smith started in the circle for TAMIU and allowed six runs (five earned), eight hits, one walk and struck out one.
Sophomore
Tessa Ramirez threw the final 2.1 innings, allowing one unearned run, two hits, one walk and fanned two.
The Dustdevils now prepare to take the road, as they meet Eastern New Mexico. The three-game set begins with doubleheader action on Friday, Mar. 3. First pitch for game one is slated for 4 p.m. CST/3 p.m. MST.
