EDMOND, Okla. – Texas A&M International women's basketball was unable to complete the road comeback, falling to Oklahoma Christian 64-62 on Saturday.
The Eagles (4-17, 4-13 LSC) jumped ahead quickly in the first, opening on an 8-0 run.
TAMIU (12-11, 5-10 LSC) would chip away and make it a 10-8 game with 4:40 left, but Oklahoma Christian scored nine of the last 11 to lead 19-10 going into the second.
The Dustdevils cut the deficit to five to open the second, but the Eagles would open up a double-digit lead shorty thereafter to lead 37-26 at the half.
Going behind 40-26 after a third quarter opening three by Oklahoma Christian, TAMIU used a 14-2 run to trim the deficit to two, but the Eagles again would push it to six, but the score read just 48-44 going into the fourth.
In the final frame, the Dustdevils again cut the lead to two, but Oklahoma Christian got it back to six, before TAMIU cut it to 55-54 with 4:48 remaining.
Again, a six-point, 64-58 lead for the Eagles stood at the 1:54 mark and despite holding Oklahoma Christian the rest of the way, the Dustdevils could only score four in that time frame, sealing the win for the Eagles.
On the afternoon, TAMIU shot 23-for-62 (37.1%) from the field, 6-for-21 (28.6%) from three, but were 10-for-18 (55.6%) from the free-throw line.
Oklahoma Christian would shoot 25-58 (43.1%) from the floor, 8-for-22 (36.4%) from deep and 6-for-9 from the stripe.

Rai Brown was the team leader offensively with 23 points on 9-for-15 shooting to go alongside five rebounds.

Angelique Morgan scored 12 points with seven assists.
The Dustdevils look to regroup as they face UAFS on Monday, Feb. 6 at 5:30 p.m. in Fort Smith, Ark. The game was originally scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 2, but was postponed due to the weather.
