LAREDO, Texas – After splitting a doubleheader with Oklahoma Christian on Friday, Texas A&M International Baseball split another doubleheader on Saturday, losing the first game 10-4 before winning the second game 8-7.
Oklahoma Christian 10 TAMIU 4 (7 Innings)
The Eagles took an early lead scoring two runs in the top of the first and never trailed.
The Dustdevils scored one run in the bottom of the first when graduate student
Daniel Hernandez singled in a run.
Oklahoma Christian stretched their lead to 4-1 in the second and 7-1 in the fourth.
TAMIU scored one more in the bottom of the fifth off an RBI single from senior
Brock Hargens.
The Eagles added three more in the sixth to stretch the gap to 10-2, before the Dustdevils scored two in the bottom of the seventh.
Senior
Ronnie Bailey singled in a run and junior
Ariben Gutierrez singled in a run.
Sophomore
Lalo Salinas started on the mound and pitched four innings where he allowed seven runs on nine hits while walking two and striking out three.
Junior
Rolando Riza pitched two innings where he allowed three runs on two hits and redshirt freshman
Robert Villarreal pitched one hitless inning.
Bailey led the team from the plate with a 3-for-4 outing.
TAMIU 8 Oklahoma Christian 7 (9 Innings)
TAMIU scored four runs in the first inning and never trailed the whole game.
The Dustdevils first run came via a base on balls with loaded bases, Hernandez singled in two runs and junior
Antonio Buentello scored on an error.
TAMIU scored three more in the second inning.
Senior
Mario Chacon singled in a run and Bailey singled in two runs,
The Dustdevils scored one more in the bottom of the third to take an 8-0 lead after Buentello singled in another run.
The Eagles score one in the eighth and tried to rally in the ninth scoring six but couldn't tie the game.
Junior
Jan Cabrera started on the mound and pitched seven innings where he allowed three hits and no runs while talking four and striking out nine.
Junior
Danny Dial pitched 1.1 innings allowing five runs (three earned) on five hits and redshirt freshman
Reese Petersen earned the save allowed two runs on one hit and recording the final two outs.
The Dustdevils finished with 10 hits as a team with senior
Matt Kissamis and Bailey both recording two.
