PORTALES, N.M. – Texas A&M International softball jumped ahead early, but was unable to hold on, falling to Eastern New Mexico 5-3 in the series finale.

The Dustdevils would jump ahead immediately in the top of the first inning. A single and runner reaching by way of error, setup sophomore
Tajanae Davis to hit a three run home run to lead 3-0 just three batters in.

From there, TAMIU (9-14, 5-7 LSC) could only muster one hit over the other six trips to the plate.

The Greyhounds (14-10, 6-6 LSC) would score a run in each inning from the bottom of the second through the bottom of the sixth.

The runs scored consisted of a home run in the second, a sacrifice bunt RBI in the third, RBI singles in the fourth and sixth and a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

Darrian Smith got the start and in two innings allowed two runs, three hits, three walks and struck out one.

Tessa Ramirez took the defeat, throwing three innings, allowing two runs (one earned), five hits and struck out two.

Carla Arellano closed out the game, allowing a run and three hits in her one inning of work.
