LAREDO, Texas – Texas A&M International softball ended #11 Lubbock Christian's 13 game winning streak with a 3-0 victory in the series finale on Saturday.

TAMIU (16-22, 12-15 LSC) opened the scoring right away in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI fielder's choice by sophomore
Tajanae Davis to make it 1-0.

The Dustdevils added two more runs in the second inning off an RBI double from sophomore
Kristin Maldonado and then a second run in the inning after a Lubbock Christian error after a wild pitch on a strikeout which would've ended the inning, making the score 3-0.

The Lady Chaps were held in check early, but would pick up the offense late, to no avail.

Lubbock Christian would leave two runners on in the fourth and sixth and the bases loaded in the fifth and seventh innings.

Junior
Erika Cortez got the start and in the complete game effort allowed the Lone Star Conference's top hitting team to six hits, while walking five and striking out nine in the complete game effort.

Offensively, TAMIU had two hits in the game with Maldonado and junior
Kristy Alanis combining for the two.

The Dustdevils will not take to the road for its season series against Cameron in Lawton, Okla. A day one doubleheader opens the series on Thursday, April 6 at 2 p.m.
