TAMIU took an early lead in the bottom of the first when senior
Mario Chacon hit a sacrifice fly and added a second run when senior
Beto Cervantes singled in a run.
The Dustdevils stretched the lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the second when senior
Marcos Alvarado scored on a wild pitch.
After two scoreless innings, TAMIU took a four-run read in the bottom of the fifth when junior
Joseph Cruz singled in a run.
The Javelinas tied the game in the top of the sixth, scoring four runs, and took a 5-4 lead in the top of the seventh after scoring on a ground out.
The Dustdevils scored in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game when junior
Ariben Gutierrez scored on a wild pitch.
The game went into extra innings after two scoreless innings when Texas A&M Kingsville scored two in the top of the 10th on a two-RBI double.
Gutierrez and Cruz both record two hits to lead TAMIU.
Freshman
Cody Templeton started on the mound and pitched 6.1 innings, allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out four.
Juniors
Andrew Delgadillo and
Danny Dial both threw 0.2 innings of hitless baseball.
The Dustdevils will be in action at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, for a doubleheader against the Javelinas.
