AUSTIN, Texas – Texas A&M International baseball fell to St. Edward's in game one of a four-game series, 20-10, on the road.
TAMIU took an early lead, scoring one run in the top of the first.

Daniel Hernandez hit a sacrifice fly, allowing junior
Ariben Gutierrez to score.
The Hilltoppers answered with seven runs in the bottom of the third.
The Dustdevils cut the lead to 7-2 in the top of the fourth when senior
Ronnie Bailey hit a solo home run.
But St. Edward's answered right back with a solo home run in the bottom half of the inning.
TAMIU cut the deficit to 8-5 in the top of the fifth when senior Cam Stevenson hit a three-run home run. But the Hilltoppers answered right back with three runs in the bottom of the fifth.
St. Edwards added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to take a 14-5 lead.
The Dustdevils cut the lead to 14-8 in the top of the seventh when senior
Mario Chacon doubled in three runs. The Hilltoppers scored one in the bottom half of the inning to stretch the lead to seven runs.
TAMIU added two more runs in the top of the eighth.
Gutierrez hit a sacrifice fly to plate a run, and senior
Joseph Cruz doubled in a run.
The Hilltoppers scored five runs in the bottom of the eighth to end the game via the run rule.
The Dustdevils recorded 14 hits as a team, with Cruz, Chacon, Hernandez, Stevenson, and senior
Beto Cervantes recording two hits. Chacon and Stevenson led TAMIU with three RBI each.
Junior
Jan Cabrera started the game on the mound for the Dustdevils and pitched 4.1 innings, where he allowed nine runs (eight earned) on 11 hits.
Five TAMIU pitchers combined for 3.1 innings, allowing 11 runs (10 earned) on 11 hits.
The Dustdevils are in action tomorrow at noon for a doubleheader at St. Edward's.
