SAN ANGELO, Texas – After splitting a doubleheader against No. 1 Angelo State on Friday, Texas A&M International Baseball fell to the Rams in game four, 14-4 in eight innings.
TAMIU jumped out to an early lead, scoring four runs in the top of the second.
Junior Isaac Gonzales doubled in a run, graduate student
Daniel Hernandez singled in a run, junior
Joseph Cruz doubled in a run and senior
Ronnie Bailey singled in a run.
Angelo State scored one in the bottom of the second and took the lead in the third scoring six runs. They stretched the lead to 8-4 in the fourth.
The Rams' offense continued to roll, scoring one in the sixth, three in the seventh and two in the eighth.
Sophomore
Lalo Salinas started on the mound for the Dustdevils, pitching 2.1 innings allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits while striking out three and walking one.
Five pitchers combined for 5.1 innings allowing eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits while striking out three and walking five.
Junior
Ariben Gutierrez led TAMIU from the plate with two hits.
TAMIU is in action next at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 21 at home against Texas A&M-Kingsville.
