TAMIU Celebrates Victory Over St. Edward's

Laredo, Texas - It was a thrilling day for the Texas A&M International Dustdevils men's soccer team as they hosted the St. Edward's Hilltoppers at Dustdevil Field. The Dustdevils secured a memorable 5-2 victory, delighting the hometown fans who packed the stands. This win not only added another notch to our belt but also showcased the incredible strength and unity of our team.
 
In the first half, the match started with both teams demonstrating their skills, but it was our Dustdevils who struck first. Jorge Amaya's precise strike in the 19th minute, courtesy of an assist from Johan Portales, set the tone for the game. St. Edward's managed to level the score with Jethro Vourjolo finding the back of our net. The first half ended with both teams tied at 1-1, but we knew we had more in the tank.
 
The second half was where our Dustdevils truly shined. Guy Lehrer, Jordan Mase, and Johan Portales came through with outstanding goals, displaying the exceptional teamwork and coordination we've been working on. Magnus Poulsen and Yahir Gallardo played pivotal roles with crucial assists. St. Edward's managed to slip in one more goal through Carlos Huato, but our Dustdevils' offensive prowess proved too much to handle. The match concluded with a final score of 5-2 in our favor, solidifying our dominance on the field.
 
Key players like Johan Portales, with two goals and two assists, demonstrated their unwavering commitment to the team's success. Jordan Mase's goal and two assists were instrumental in our victory, while Guy Lehrer and Jorge Amaya added their magic to the scoreline.
 
In terms of stats, our Dustdevils dominated the shot count, recording 14 shots with 9 of them on target. Our solid defensive effort limited St. Edward's to 12 shots, with 4 on target.
