Dustdevils and Greyhounds end in 1-1 Draw

Portales, New Mexico - Texas A&M International (TAMIU) faced off against Eastern New Mexico (ENMU), resulting in a 1-1 draw. 

The first half was marked by intense competition, with ENMU drawing first blood in the 36th minute. Felix Drizinsky found the back of the net with a powerful finish at the near post, capitalizing on a through ball from the right channel, and assisted by Ignacio Lopez.

TAMIU mounted a spirited comeback in the second half. Guy Lehrer emerged as the hero for the visiting team, equalizing in the 61st minute. Lehrer's goal was a thing of beauty, as he skillfully converted a cross from the left wing into the top left corner of the net, leaving the ENMU goalkeeper with no chance.

In terms of shots, neither side managed to establish a significant advantage, with the Dustdevils and Greyhounds recording 13 and 8 shots, respectively. TAMIU, however, held a slight edge in shots on target, registering 5 compared to ENMU's 4.

The goalkeepers from both sides were truly put to the test, with TAMIU's goalkeeper making 3 crucial saves and ENMU's goalkeeper stepping up with 4 pivotal stops.
Set pieces also played a significant role in the match, with TAMIU taking the initiative by earning 7 corner kicks, underlining their determination to secure victory. On the other hand, ENMU accrued 5 corner kicks.

Guy Lehrer was the standout performer for TAMIU, tallying 7 shots, with an impressive 4 on target, and scoring the crucial equalizer that salvaged a point for his team. Jorge Amaya provided a crucial assist, delivering the cross that led to Lehrer's goal.

Despite the intensity, neither team managed to break the deadlock after Lehrer's equalizer, resulting in a well-earned 1-1 draw.

The Dustdevils will be back in action on Wednesday, September 27 at UT Tyler at 5 p.m.
